Baby Joy Studios | Edmonton Newborn Posing Workshop Partners

We are so thrilled to be pairing with some wonderful vendors this go around for the Baby Vogue Workshop in Edmonton AB on June 9th and 10th. So what better way to introduce you all to them than with some featured blog postings. We asked our vendors questions about themselves, their products and the future plans so that you can get to know them all like we do. Their products are divine and we know you’ll fall in love, just as we did.

First up, Rebecca of Baby Joy Studios:

Your Name: Rebecca Thompson

Your Website: http://www.babyjoystudios.com

Your Email Address: info@babyjoystudios.com

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your business:

Baby Joy Studios is an exclusive photography prop store. You can find a variety of products such as wraps, headbands, knit hats and bonnets designed for the newborn and maternity photographer by a photographer. My photography experience and creative artisitc skills help to create the most pure, organic and simple, yet practical photography props.

What inspired you to go into business?

After studying for my degree in the visual arts, I have worked for 7 years as a studio photographer (www.rebeccajoystudios.com). I have always have wanted to expand my creativity and get back into the textile side of art but didn’t have a clear direction. One day I decided I needed to just start somewhere and opened an etsy store and started to sell newborn wraps. Then the rest just started flowing and more and more ideas came to me and Baby Joy Studios was created!

How long have you been in business?

Baby Joy Studios just had its one year anniversary!

What 5 words would you use to describe your products?

Pure, simple, organic, timeless, delicate.

What’s your most popular item and why?

The Vintage Bloom headband is the most popular headband I sell. It is such a simple little floral headband with a raw organic feel to it. It compliments the baby while adding the perfect amount of softness and interest.

What’s your favorite product to make and why?

I don’t think I have a favourite item. I love the variety of textiles and products I offer in my store! I did a lot of work with textiles during a Visual Art term at the Australian National University and have ever since fallen in love with fabric, yarn and textures! There is so much creativity with textiles, one could never get bored!

What do you want photographers to know about your products?

Baby Joy Studios has just released a new line of Maternity Photo props! Beautiful versatile, sheer chemis and capelets that can be worn and used in so many ways! More info can be found at this website : : http://babyjoystudios.bigcartel.com/

My products can be viewed on my website. There is also a link on my website to my etsy store. I post the latest designs and promos through my facebook page and through a monthly newsletter. Subscribe here.

From our viewpoint:

“I absolutely adore Rebecca’s work… her headbands, hats and wraps are absolutely stunning. Their simplistic nature matches perfectly with my organic style. She’s also a dream to work with, with amazing turnaround time!” -  Jillian Kirby (Jillian Kirby Baby)

“Rebecca’s headbands are an absolute dream. They coordinate with so many of my props and blankets and are always a delicate first choice for my parents. I’m never surprised when parents order big prints featuring Rebecca’s handiwork” – Stephanie Robin (Stephanie Robin Photography & Design)

Look out for Rebecca’s handiwork at our upcoming Baby Vogue Workshop in Edmonton AB (June 9th and 10th). Rebecca has generously provided discounts for our attendees’ grab bags and a few special items for our end of workshop giveaways too!

Thank you Rebecca!
